FAIRMONT, West Virginia – Over the weekend, the Salem Tigers men's and women's swimming team headed up I-79 to Fairmont to compete in the Fairmont State Tri-Meet. Salem would compete against Fairmont State and Davis & Elkins on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers were able to see some individual success. However, the Tigers finished 0-2 on the women's side in the dual scores. On the men's side they split 1-1 defeating Davis & Elkins and falling to Fairmont State.
On the women's side, in event 1 the Tigers finished in third in the 400 Medley Relay. The second event for the women seen
Kiara Barnes finish 2
nd place in the 1000 Freestyle. The Tigers also had some success in the 50 freestyles with
Cheyanne Rohde placing 2
nd and
Emily Low placing 4
th.
Kiara Barnes had another impressive 2
nd place finish in the 200 IM.
Courtney Repinz was able to place 4
th in the 200 IM as well. Salem had two top three finishes in the 100 Back by
Cheyanne Rohde and
Kiara Barnes. To finish things on the women's side, Salem finished 2
nd as a team in the 400 Freestyle Relay.
On the men's side, things got started out with the Tigers seeing a 2
nd place finish as a team in the 400 Medley Relay. The Tigers had an impressive 1
st place finish by
Alvaro Arruga Moreno in the 1000 Freestyle.
Elias Maurer was able to finish 2
nd in the 200 Freestyle. The Tigers had another impressive 1
st place finish by
Veer Kassan in the 200 IM. Salem led the pack in the 100 Freestyle with
Elias Maurer finishing 1
st and
Marko Zivojinovic finishing 2
nd. To close things out, the Tigers were able to have one more 1
st place finish by
Alvaro Arruga Moreno in the 500 Freestyle.
After a solid weekend, the Tigers will have a lot of time off to prepare for the Vulcan Invitational on January 11
th in California, PA
