BRIDGEPORT, West Virginia- After starting the season on the road, the Salem women's soccer team finally got to play in their 2024 home opener. The Salem Tigers took on the Frostburg State Bobcats at The Bridge Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, the Bobcats were able to spoil the home opener in a 7-0 victory.

In the first half, the Bobcats were able to get on the board quickly as they got out to a quick 2-0 lead just 15 minutes into the contest. The Tigers were able to play solid defense for the rest of the second half as no other goals were scored and Frostburg went into the half with a 2-0 lead.

In the second half, the Bobcats were able to take full control of the game scoring two early goals to extend their lead to 4-0. Salem needed to get some offense going to get back into the game. However, the Bobcats would go on a 3-0 run in the final 10 minutes of play to secure a 7-0 victory over the Tigers. The Tigers were able to secure 11 saves with all of those coming from

Despite the tough loss this afternoon, the Tigers will have a chance to get back on track as they take on West Liberty University on September 18
th at 2:30 PM.
