WHEELING, West Virginia- The Salem Tigers women's soccer team traveled to Wheeling, West Virginia for a late-night match against the Wheeling Cardinals on Wednesday. The Tigers were looking to turn things around, but the Cardinals were too much to handle as they were able to win the game by a score of 6-0
In the first half, both teams started out slow on the offensive side of the field. However, the Wheeling Cardinals were able to get the first goal of the night 15 minutes into the contest. The Cardinals were able to score two more goals before halftime extending their lead to 3-0.Â
In the second half, it didn't take long for the Cardinals to get back on the board as they were able to score just 5 minutes into the second half. The Tigers were facing a 0-4 deficit at this point and needed to get the offense going if they wanted a chance to get back into this one. Unfortunately, the Cardinals were able to score two more goals to close out the game to extend their lead to 6-0.
In the stats sheet,
Sarah Cabrera was able to secure 18 saves and
Chloe Owens was able to get 3 saves in the game.Â
Despite the tough loss, the Tigers will have a chance to get back on track this weekend at home when they take on Point Park University on September 29
th at 1:30 PM.
