BRIDGEPORT, West Virginia – The Salem Tigers women's soccer team was finally back home on Sunday afternoon as they went head-to-head against the Point Park University Pioneers out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was a competitive game all the way through the final seconds. However, the Point Park Pioneers were able to score the lone goal of the game and win by a final score of 1-0.
In the first half, both teams started out slow on the offensive side of the ball. However, 30 minutes into the game Point Park University was able to score a goal to take a 1-0 lead. The Tigers were unable to get any offense going in the first half but were playing solid on the defensive side. Point Park was able to take 6 shots in the first half compared to Salem's 2 shots.
In the second half, both teams were playing well on defense, with neither team able to get many shots off. As time ticked down the Tigers desperately needed to get a goal to tie things up before time ran out. Unfortunately, the Point Park Pioneers were able to control the rest of the game by controlling the clock and keeping the ball in their possession. The Pioneers were able to win a nailbiter 1-0. In the second half, the Pioneers were able to take 9 shots compared to the Tigers 1 shot.

Sarah Cabrera gathered 8 saves in this contest as well.
Despite the close loss, the Tigers will have a chance to get into the win column as they take on West Virginia Wesleyan College Wednesday evening at 5:00 PM at The Bridge Sports Complex.
