ELKINS, W.Va. — The Salem University women's soccer team turned in a determined defensive effort on Saturday afternoon but came up short in a 2–0 road setback against Davis & Elkins.
After a scoreless first half, the Senators capitalized early in the second when Addyson Cogar found the net in the 46th minute. Cogar struck again just nine minutes later off a feed from Kristia Kouppi to give the hosts a two-goal advantage.
Salem goalkeeper Janiya Brooks-Crews anchored the Tigers' back line with a standout performance, recording 13 saves while facing a barrage of 31 total shots from the Senators. Batoul Khaleefah and Audriana Medina provided Salem's offensive pressure, each registering a shot attempt, including Khaleefah's on-target look midway through the first half.
Despite limited possession, the Tigers battled through all 90 minutes and kept the match within reach behind steady defensive play and strong goalkeeping.
Salem (1-10-0) continues its 2025 campaign next week with another non-conference matchup against the Pioneers of Glenville State on Tuesday, October 15th.
