Salem Stifled in Home Tilt with Glenville State

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Salem University women's soccer dropped a 7-0 decision to Glenville State on Wednesday evening.

The Pioneers built an early lead with three first-half goals and added four more after the break. Aitana Viejo and Solares Solano each scored twice for Glenville, while Valeria Duque assisted on two goals to pace the visitors' attack.

For Salem, goalkeeper Chloe Owens faced a heavy workload and delivered a strong performance with 14 saves on 34 total shots, including nine in the opening half. The Tigers' lone shot came in the 18th minute when Nevaeh Guzman forced a save on a strike from the top of the box.

Defenders Britney Riley, Galia Mezouar, and Serena Alvarado Ponce logged full-time minutes on the back line, while midfielders Gabriella Briceno Cajiao, Valentina Valle, and Heidi Faske anchored the center of the field.

With the result, Salem moves to 1-11-0 on the season, while Glenville State improves to 4-7-1. The Tigers continue play this weekend on the road as they are set to face off with West Virginia State on Sunday, October 19th.
