INSTITUTE, W.Va. — The Salem University women's soccer team endured both challenging weather and a strong opponent on Sunday afternoon, as the Tigers dropped a shortened match 9–0 at West Virginia State.
The contest was called early due to deteriorating weather conditions in the 73rd minute. Despite the shortened duration, goalkeeper Chloe Owens turned in a determined effort in net, recording six saves while facing consistent pressure from the Yellow Jackets' offense.
Salem's back line — led by Britney Riley and Nevaeh Guzman — worked to limit opportunities in the defensive third against one of the top scoring teams in the region.
The Tigers are back in action on the road this week as they are set to face off with the Wheeling Cardinals on Wednesday, October 22nd.
