INSTITUTE, W.Va. — The Salem University volleyball team fell in straight sets on the road Friday night at West Virginia State, 25–19, 25–7, 25–15.
The Tigers (10-10) kept things close early in the first set before the Yellow Jackets pulled away behind a strong offensive attack. Salem was led by Marika Righi, who delivered a team-high 11 kills and hit .267, while Noemi Combi added five kills and one service ace. Valentina Poti and Mykenzie Clyncke each contributed four kills.
Setter Katie Kennedy guided the offense with 21 assists and added eight digs defensively. Ana Julia Avila Vian led the Tigers with 15 digs in the back row, continuing her steady play as the team's defensive anchor.
As a team, Salem recorded 25 kills and 52 digs, while Righi and Clyncke provided sparks at the net throughout the match.
Next up, the Tigers stay down south as they are set to face off with the Charleston Golden Eagles on Ocotber 25th at 2 PM.
