SALEM, W.Va. — The Salem University volleyball team showed resilience throughout the evening but came up short in a straight-sets loss to West Liberty on Tuesday night inside T. Edward Davis Gymnasium, 25–18, 25–12, 25–16.

The Tigers (10-12) opened strong in the first set, trading early points with the Hilltoppers before West Liberty pulled ahead late behind an efficient .303 team hitting percentage.

Valentina Poti led Salem offensively with 10 kills, while Marika Righi added eight and Mykenzie Clyncke chipped in six. Setter Katie Kennedy dished out 27 assists and contributed three digs, while Ana Julia Avila Vian anchored the defense with 17 digs on the night.

At the net, Righi and Clyncke each provided key momentum swings with timely kills, and Poti's strong attacking led Salem through multiple long rallies in front of a supportive home crowd.

The Tigers will be looking to bounce back in thier next contest. That match will be against the Senators of Davis & Elkins College on Friday, October 31st at 7 PM.
