Tigers Fall on the Road at Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Salem University women's soccer fell 11-0 on Wednesday evening at Charleston.

The Golden Eagles struck early and never looked back, scoring seven times in the first half and four more after the break. Sydney Crowe led the way with two goals and an assist, while Li-Lou Debaecker and Jamie Bland each added two goals for Charleston.

Salem goalkeeper Janiya Brooks-Crews turned in another determined effort between the posts, finishing with 12 saves against 46 total shots faced. Defenders Britney Riley and Nevaeh Guzman worked tirelessly along the back line, while midfielders Valentina Valle and Heidi Faske anchored the middle third for the Tigers.

Despite the scoreline, Salem continued to battle through the full 90 minutes and gained valuable minutes from Gabriella Briceno Cajiao, Iva Ristic, and Sara Del Bosque Duque, who each played nearly the entire match.

The Tigers will have the opportunity to get back on track in their next contest, which will be against the Senators of Davis & Elkins on the road on Saturday, October 11th.
