WEST CHESTER, Pa. — Salem University dropped to 0–2 on the season after a 71–35 setback against Kutztown on Saturday afternoon at Hollinger Field House.
Salem was led by Batoul Khaleefah, who scored 11 points on the afternoon, knocking down a pair of threes and adding a rebound and an assist. Nakayla Green added 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals, making an impact on both ends of the floor.
Taja Brown provided strong interior play with 7 rebounds, while Meilin Guo grabbed a team-high 8 boards.
Kutztown controlled the second quarter to create separation, but the Tigers continued to battle, posting their highest scoring output in the fourth quarter with 12 points. Salem shot 5-of-12 from the free-throw line and connected on five three-pointers, including makes from Khaleefah, Green, Aleeya Silver, Kamarice Jackson, and Fatima Bakayoko.
Bakayoko, Silver, and Jackson each contributed 3 points off the bench, while Kori Pillette added 2 points and 5 rebounds.
