FROSTBURG, Md. — The Salem University volleyball team battled throughout the evening but came up short on the road, falling in straight sets to Frostburg State (25–18, 25–17, 25–19) on Friday night inside Bobcat Arena.
The Tigers (11–13) hit .116 as a team and produced a balanced offensive effort led by Marika Righi, who posted eight kills and nine digs. Noemi Combi followed with seven kills on an efficient .438 hitting percentage, while Valentina Poti and Mykenzie Clyncke each added five.
Setter Katie Kennedy directed the attack with 20 assists and chipped in six service aces, tying a season high. Ana Julia Avila Vian led the defense with 13 digs, and Combi added two blocks at the net.
Despite the loss, Salem kept each set within reach, recording 10 kills in all three frames and showing strong defensive coverage throughout long rallies.
The Tigers continue their road stretch Saturday when they travel to face Fairmont State in another nonconference matchup.
