FAIRMONT, W.Va. — The Salem University volleyball team showed resilience throughout the evening but came up short against Fairmont State, falling in straight sets (25–12, 25–21, 25–17) on Saturday afternoon inside Joe Retton Arena.
The Tigers (11–14) were led by Noemi Combi, who recorded eight kills on a .316 hitting percentage and added seven digs. Marika Righi chipped in seven kills and two blocks, while Mykenzie Clyncke added five kills to round out a balanced offensive effort.
Setter Katie Kennedy guided the offense with 21 assists and contributed eight digs, while Ana Julia Avila Vian anchored the defense with a team-high 11 digs.
After a tough opening set, Salem rallied in the second to keep the score within striking distance, trailing by just three points late before Fairmont State closed it out. The Tigers hit .175 as a team, totaling 29 kills and 38 digs across the match.
