SALEM, W.Va. — Salem women's basketball battled throughout but could not overcome a fast start from West Virginia Wesleyan, falling 71–43 on Saturday afternoon inside T. Edward Davis Gymnasium.
The Tigers (1–7) were led by Nakayla Green, who delivered an efficient and dynamic performance with 18 points, including four three-pointers, while adding five rebounds and a steal. Kamarice Jackson added 7 points, and Aleeya Silver finished with 6 points, four rebounds, and three steals off the bench.
After a difficult opening quarter, Salem settled in defensively and put together its strongest offensive stretch in the fourth, scoring 16 points, highlighted by two late threes from Green. The Tigers also saw contributions from Ida Bengstsson (4 points, 2 rebounds) and Taja Brown (2 points, 5 rebounds).
Salem's bench provided 13 points, with Silver and Jackson supplying much of the spark. The Tigers also collected 12 second-chance points and knocked down 11-of-16 free throws (68.8%).
West Virginia Wesleyan (4–2) was led by a balanced attack, placing four players in double figures while shooting 51% from the field.
