SALEM, W.Va. — Salem University women's basketball faced a strong Glenville State squad on Tuesday evening, falling 105–58 at T. Edward Davis Gymnasium.
The Tigers kept pace early, trading baskets in the opening quarter before Glenville State used a decisive second period to create separation. The Pioneers outscored Salem 36–8 in the second quarter and carried a 59–25 advantage into halftime.
Salem was led offensively by Aleeya Silver, who finished with 13 points and added four assists and four steals. Akhia Miller posted a solid all-around effort with 11 points and 12 rebounds, recording a double-double, while Nakayla Green contributed 10 points, five assists, and five rebounds.
Off the bench, Fatima Bakayoko provided a spark with 10 points and five rebounds, and Kamarice Jackson added six points in limited minutes.
The Tigers showed resilience after the break, scoring 19 points in the third quarter and continuing to compete on the glass. Salem finished the night with 42 rebounds, including 14 offensive boards, and converted 15 free throws.
Glenville State capitalized on turnovers and transition opportunities, finishing with 60 points off turnovers and 53 bench points, while shooting 49 percent from the field.
Next up, the Tigers take on Division I opponent Youngstown State on December 31st at 1 PM in an exhibition matchup.
