The Salem University women's basketball team dropped a road contest at Youngstown State on Tuesday afternoon, falling 97–20 at the Beeghly Center.
The Penguins opened the game with a strong first quarter and built momentum throughout the afternoon, holding Salem to single-digit scoring in each period. Youngstown State led 27–4 after one quarter and continued to extend its advantage through the middle frames.
Taja Brown paced the Tigers offensively, finishing with a team-high 11 points while also pulling down five rebounds. Nakayla Green added five points, while Batoul Khaleefah contributed four points and a team-best seven rebounds. Kori Pillette and Akhia Miller helped anchor Salem defensively in the post, combining for seven rebounds.
Salem showed its most offensive rhythm in the fourth quarter, scoring seven points and continuing to compete despite the deficit. The Tigers forced multiple turnovers late and worked to create transition opportunities.
The Tigers get back on the court in the New Year on January 3rd on the road at Concord.
