BRIDGEPORT, West Virginia - After a tough night at home against the Pioneers, the Salem softball team played host to the Concord Mountain Lions today at The Bridge Sports Complex. Salem faced a tough offensive day for the Tigers and ended up falling in both contests. Each game played out as follows:
Concord 12, Salem 5
In Game 1, the Tigers immediately had their work cut out for them as Concord scored in each of the first 5 innings. Salem made their mark in the 4th, however. Kylie Zinn doubled in the 4th to score Jazmyn Moetului and Kaydee Anderson to get Salem on the board. In the 5th, Salem built another rally behind RBI singles from Kendall Lemley and Jazmyn Moetului, and added one more run when Kaydee Anderson was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. However, Salem's offensive strides were simply not enough to keep pace with the Mountain Lions, and the Tigers were defeated 12-5. In the pitcher's circle, Franchesca Alvaro, Destiny Coble, and Brooke Wise combined to strike out 4 Mountain Lion batters.
Concord 4, Salem 0
In Game 2, the offensive woes for Salem came to the forefront as they were unable to record a hit in the contest. Only 4 Tiger batters were even able to get on base in the game, and Concord was able to control the game the whole way to the 4-0 final scoreline. In the pitcher's circle, Kendall Lemley had a decent performance despite the loss where she went the distance for Salem and recorded 2 strikeouts.
The Tigers will be looking to put this week's setbacks behind them as they host their final home games of the 2025 spring season next week. They are set to host Waynesburg on Tuesday, April 22nd at Noon for a Senior Day doubleheader before facing Wheeling and West Liberty on the road later in the week.
