BRIDGEPORT, West Virginia - Salem University men's soccer battled to a 1-1 draw with Lake Erie College on Wednesday night at The Bridge, with a late equalizer and a final-second chance highlighting an intense finish.
After a physical opening half that featured four yellow cards between the two teams, the match remained scoreless heading into the break. Salem goalkeeper Noah Plummer kept the Tigers level, stopping multiple attempts from the Storm, including back-to-back saves in the 43rd minute.
Lake Erie broke through in the 62nd minute when Lucas Howe found the net off an assist from Angel Murillo, putting the visitors in front 1-0. Salem responded by pushing the pace, earning five second-half corners and generating several looks at goal.
The breakthrough came in the 85th minute when Giancarlo Pardo slotted home the equalizer off a well-timed assist from Aldair Cardenas Villamizar. The finish marked Pardo's first of the season and swung momentum back to the Tigers in the closing minutes.
Salem nearly found the winner in dramatic fashion as Daniel Towell unleashed a shot in the final seconds, only to see it sail just over the crossbar, leaving the score locked at 1-1 at the final whistle.
Plummer recorded four saves for the Tigers, who totaled eight shots and six corners in the contest.Â
