SALEM, West Virginia - Salem University volleyball remained unbeaten to start the 2025 season, sweeping Penn State Fayette in straight sets (25-13, 25-14, 25-15) Wednesday evening inside T. Edward Davis Gymnasium.
The Tigers (3-0) were powered by a dominant offensive performance from Marika Righi, who tallied a match-high 18 kills on 55 swings while adding 11 digs and four service aces. Righi finished with 22 total points, continuing her strong start to the year.
Supporting the attack, Noemi Combi hit an efficient .350 with eight kills, while Katie Kennedy added five kills and a match-best 15 assists. Mykenzie Clyncke also chipped in five kills, and Valentina Poti provided steady play in the back row with a team-high 21 digs.
Salem controlled the match from the opening serve, hitting .282 in the first set and holding Penn State Fayette to a negative attack percentage (-.017 overall). The Tigers also held a 9–5 advantage in service aces and forced 15 attack errors from the visitors.
Energized with a strong 4-0 start, Salem embarks on a long road trip to Salisbury, North Carolina, where they will take on Clark Atlanta and Livingstone in a tri-match on Saturday, September 13th.
