BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Salem University women's soccer returned home Wednesday evening but fell 10-0 to Point Park at The Bridge Sports Complex.
The Pioneers struck early, scoring three goals in the opening 24 minutes and taking a 3-0 lead into halftime. Point Park added seven more goals after the break, with Rebecca Pihlgren recording a brace and Mireya Rojas tallying two assists.
Salem goalkeeper Janiya Brooks-Crews faced constant pressure throughout the match, finishing with 12 saves against 31 total shots, including nine in the first half. Defenders Ashley Gonzalez, Britney Riley, and Nevaeh Guzman worked to hold the back line under heavy Pioneer possession. Guzman also registered Salem's lone shot of the afternoon in the 41st minute.
With the result, Salem moves to 0-3-0 on the season. The Tigers will look to regroup when they return to The Bridge Sports Complex this weekend for a pair of matchups on Friday and Sunday.
