BRIDGEPORT, West Virginia - With a warm September afternoon at The Bridge Sports Complex, the Salem women's soccer team welcomed the Washington Adventist Shock in for their second consecutive home contest. After a tough start to the season, the Tigers were able to notch a strong 4-0 win in the game.
In the first half, Salem put the pressure on right away, and peppered the Shock backline early on. Washington Adventist battled back and tested goalkeeper Janiya Brooks-Crew a handful of times, but were sent away. From there, the contest went into the break with a 0-0 deadlock.
In the second half, Salem made some adjustments and found their offensive attack again. They made the first mark on the scoreboard with a goal from Gabriella Briceno Cajiao. After that, Niah Hidalgo showed off her speed and punched in two more to make it 3-0 in favor of Salem. Late in the match, Audriana Medina sealed the big win for the Tigers with one more goal to make it 4-0. Salem's defense held off any final Shock pushes, and the Tigers earned the exciting 4-0 win.
Statistically, Salem was led by the 2 goals from Niah Hidalgo, and a goal each from Audriana Medina and Gabriella Briceno Cajiao. Janiya Brooks-Crew played well in the game to earn the shutout, and tallied 3 saves.
