SALEM, W.Va. – Salem University volleyball dropped a straight-sets decision to Ohio Christian University (25-22, 25-18, 25-16) on Friday evening inside T. Edward Davis Gymnasium.
The Tigers (5-2) were paced offensively by Marika Righi, who posted a team-high 12 kills on .345 hitting to go with five digs. Mykenzie Clyncke added eight kills and nine points, while Valentina Poti chipped in five kills and a team-high 21 attack attempts.
Setter Katie Kennedy dished out 17 assists while also collecting 14 digs, and Amari Nunez contributed 10 assists and nine digs in the effort. Defensively, Ana Julia Avila Vian led Salem with 12 digs, keeping rallies alive against an efficient Ohio Christian attack.
Despite keeping the opening set close with eight ties and four lead changes, the Tigers couldn't hold off the Trailblazers' late pushes.
Despite this setback, Salem will be looking to get back on track this weekend when the welcome Wright State-Lake to Salem for a 11 AM matchup on Sunday, September 21st.
