BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – Salem University volleyball dropped a straight-sets decision (25-18, 25-16, 25-18) to West Virginia Wesleyan on Friday evening at Rockefeller Center.
The Tigers (6-3) were led offensively by Valentina Poti, who recorded a team-high 8 kills and 9 points, while Marika Righi added 7 kills and 5 assists. Mykenzie Clyncke chipped in 6 kills, and Noemi Combi was efficient with 4 kills on .211 hitting.
Setter Katie Kennedy directed the offense with 10 assists, 7 digs, and a service ace, while Amari Nunez contributed 11 digs and Ana Julia Avila Vian anchored the back row with a match-high 17 digs.
Despite their efforts, the Tigers were held to a .130 hitting percentage on the night. Salem fought hard in the opening set with five ties and two lead changes but couldn't keep pace with the Bobcats' balanced attack. Wesleyan finished with a .302 hitting percentage, paced by Emily Denison (14 kills, .414) and MacKenna Halfin (12 kills, .480).
Next up, the Tigers are set to head to WEst Liberty for a 7 PM matchup with the Hilltoppers on Tuesday, September 30th.
