Salem Thwarted at West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – Salem University volleyball dropped a three-set match to West Liberty University on Tuesday evening at the ASRC, falling 25-12, 25-9, 25-13.

The Tigers (6-4) struggled to find rhythm offensively, finishing with a .026 team hitting percentage. Marika Righi led Salem with 8 kills on .273 hitting, while Valentina Poti and Noemi Combi added 4 kills each. Alexandra Vigneron chipped in 3 kills on .188 hitting.

Setter Katie Kennedy tallied 8 assists and 6 digs, while Ana Julia Avila Vian anchored the defense with 11 digs. Amari Nunez and Christeena Craddock also provided defensive support off the bench.

West Liberty (7-9, 0-1 MEC) was efficient at the net, hitting .291 as a team. The Hilltoppers were paced by Amira DuPree's 11 kills on .556 hitting, while Liv McAtee (8 kills, .438) and Kyia White (4 kills, .300) also contributed.

While today's setback is less than ideal, the Tigers can get back on track later this week with a home contest against Frostburg State. They are set to host the Bobcats on Friday, October 3rd at 7 PM.
