Tigers Earn Two Wins at Penn State DuBois Tri-Match

DuBois, Pa. – September 6, 2025 – Salem University volleyball continued its strong start to the season with two victories at the Penn State DuBois tri-match on Saturday. The Tigers swept host Penn State DuBois in straight sets before claiming a four-set victory over Kent State-Tuscarawas.

In the opener, Salem cruised to a 3–0 (25–5, 25–13, 25–10) win over Penn State DuBois. Senior outside hitter Valentina Poti was nearly unstoppable, recording 12 kills on an outstanding .800 hitting percentage to go along with three aces and six digs. McKenzie Clyncke added nine kills and three blocks, while Marika Righi finished with seven kills and three total blocks. Setter Katie Kennedy directed the attack with 13 assists and three service aces. As a team, Salem hit an impressive .509 in the match.

The Tigers carried that momentum into their second contest, securing a 3–1 (25–18, 25–19, 23–25, 25–17) win over Kent State-Tuscarawas. Poti once again led the way with 17 kills, 28 digs, and 19.5 points in a standout performance. Clyncke chipped in 13 kills on a team-high .324 hitting percentage, and Righi added nine kills with 18 digs. Kennedy contributed 22 assists and three block assists, while libero Ana Julia Avila Vian anchored the defense with 31 digs. Salem's back row defense was the difference, holding Tuscarawas to just a .109 team hitting percentage.

With the pair of victories, Salem improves its season record and continues building momentum heading into the next stretch of matches.They open up the home portion of thier schedule on Wednesday, September 10th at 6 PM against Penn State-Fayette.
