SALEM, W.Va. — Salem University men's soccer senior Josue Villegas has been named to the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Men's Soccer All-Conference Second Team, earning postseason recognition following an impressive 2026 campaign.

Villegas, a midfielder/forward from Monterrey de San Carlos, Costa Rica, was one of Salem's leading offensive contributors throughout the season. He finished the campaign with four goals and two assists for 10 points.

Villegas led the Tigers with 26 shots and 14 shots on goal while converting three game-winning goals. His offensive production played an important role in Salem's first season competing in the Mountain East Conference.

Among his season highlights was the game-winning goal in Salem's 1-0 victory over Malone on October 3. He also found the back of the net in Salem's season-opening 4-1 win over Malone and scored in the Tigers' 2-1 victory over Virginia State on October 24.

The All-MEC selections are determined through a vote of the conference's head coaches, recognizing the top performers across the league throughout the season.

The Second Team honor marks a significant individual achievement for Villegas and adds to Salem's growing presence in the Mountain East Conference.
