Salem Loses Overtime Thriller with Concord

SALEM, W.Va. – In a high-stakes battle at the T. Edward Davis Gymnasium, the Salem University Tigers (7-13) pushed Concord University to the limit before falling 97–94 in an overtime period on Wednesday night. Despite a massive second-half rally, the Tigers could not overcome the Mountain Lions in the extra frame.

Top Performers

  • Zahki Fallen: Led all scorers with a dominant 33-point performance, including five 3-pointers.

  • Jamari Gamble: Contributed 28 points and 8 rebounds while shooting 9-of-10 from the free-throw line.

  • Eman Lawal: Anchored the interior with a double-double, recording 18 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

  • Xavier Price: Added 10 points and 6 rebounds in 30 minutes of action.

Game Summary The Tigers faced an uphill climb early, trailing 41–33 at the halftime break. However, Salem ignited in the second half, outscoring Concord 49–41 to force overtime. The comeback was fueled by sharp shooting, as the Tigers hit 62.5% of their three-point attempts in the second period.

Salem dominated the interior throughout the night, outscoring Concord 48–42 in the paint and winning the rebounding battle 48–45. The Tigers also capitalized on defensive pressure, matching Concord with 19 points off turnovers.

In the overtime period, Concord's Savier McCall, who finished with 26 points, helped the Mountain Lions edge ahead to secure the narrow three-point victory.
