Salem University baseball split a four-game weekend series against Frostburg State, securing two victories in high-scoring Mountain East Conference action.
Game 1: Salem 14, Frostburg State 5
The Tigers opened the series on Saturday with a dominant offensive performance. Aaron Forbes spearheaded the attack, finishing 4-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs. Salem jumped to an early lead in the first inning following an RBI single from Jimmy LaForce. Reese Rinna and Cody Thomas each added home runs to help the Tigers pull away late. On the mound, Conor Thiele earned the win, pitching five innings and recording four strikeouts.
Game 2: Frostburg State 14, Salem 4
In the second half of Saturday's doubleheader, the Tigers fell despite an early spark. Aaron Forbes continued his hot streak with another home run in the first inning to give Salem an initial 3-0 lead. Brandon Hoftijzer and Cody Thomas also contributed hits, but the lead vanished in a high-scoring fifth inning by the opposition. Jackson Thoma was tagged with the loss.
Game 3: Salem 5, Frostburg State 4
Sunday's opener featured a resilient performance from the Tigers. Salem built a 5-0 cushion by the fourth inning, highlighted by a two-run double from Jimmy LaForce and RBI contributions from Aaron Forbes and Landon McAlpine. After a late surge by the opponent in the sixth, Richie Preston entered the game to record the final six outs, earning his fifth save of the season. Otho Savage was credited with the win after a solid start.
Game 4: Frostburg State 6, Salem 2
The series finale saw the Tigers' bats quieted as they managed just four hits. Reese Rinna provided the primary highlight with a solo home run, and Aaron Forbes added a double. Cody Thomas contributed an RBI via a sacrifice fly to score Rinna in the sixth, but the rally fell short. Brian Kendall took the loss, while Zach Allen provided relief innings to close out the game.
