Tigers Claim Another Split at Ohio Christian

CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — Salem University softball earned a split in Tuesday's doubleheader against Ohio Christian, dropping the opener 6-1 before bouncing back with a commanding 10-2 victory in game two.

Game 1: Ohio Christian 6, Salem 1

Salem was held in check offensively in the opener, managing just six hits in a 6-1 loss. Ohio Christian jumped out early with two runs in the first inning and never looked back, adding insurance in the third and a three-run fourth inning.

Despite the loss, Salem saw solid individual performances at the plate. Jacobi Gledhill led the way with a perfect 2-for-2 day and a walk, while Kylie Zinn provided the lone run with a solo home run in the sixth inning. Gina Alvaro also chipped in with a double as part of Salem's six-hit effort.

In the circle, Franchesca Alvaro took the loss, allowing five runs over three innings, while Brooke Wise provided a strong relief effort with five strikeouts across the final three frames.

Salem threatened late, putting runners on in the sixth after Zinn's homer, but couldn't close the gap as Ohio Christian pitcher Aleeseah Trimmer went the distance.

Game 2: Salem 10, Ohio Christian 2

The Tigers responded in a big way in game two, erupting for 10 runs on 13 hits to secure the split. Salem wasted no time getting on the board, scoring in the first inning and steadily building the lead throughout the game.

Kylie Zinn stayed hot at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, while Jacobi Gledhill delivered a standout performance with three hits and three RBIs. Ali Shrieve added three hits and two RBIs, and Brooke Wise contributed a pair of hits and an RBI.

Salem broke the game open with a three-run fourth inning and a four-run sixth, highlighted by Gledhill's two-run single and timely hitting throughout the lineup.

In the circle, Kendall Lemley turned in a dominant performance, tossing a complete game while allowing just three hits and two runs—both unearned—while striking out six.
