Rutherford, NJ- The Salem Tigers Women's soccer team faced off against the Felician Falcons on Sunday afternoon at Tryon Field. The Tigers were looking to get in the win column against the Falcons. Unfortunately, the Felician Falcons were able to secure a win on Sunday afternoon by a score of 4-0.
Salem held the Falcons to just one goal in the opening half of the game. Thanks to a strong defensive effort from the Tigers and an impressive performance in the goal by Janiya Brooks-Crews, who recorded 9 saves in the first half to keep the game within striking distance for the Tigers.Â
In the second half, the Falcons came out strong, scoring two goals early, extending their lead to 3-0. The Tigers knew they needed to get their offense going if they wanted to keep the game within reach. Salem continued to fight and look for opportunities to get on the board.
Goalkeeper Janiya Brooks Crews was the difference maker between the posts in today's game, making a 20 saves to keep the Tigers within striking distance and gave her team an opportunity to battle till the final whistle.Â
Despite the loss, the Tigers have a chance to regroup before their next game. The Tigers will host their home opener on Saturday, September 5th at 12:30 PM vs Ohio Christian University.Â
