ERIE, PA - The Gannon Goldent Knights scored seven first-period goals en route to a 14-7 victory against Salem International in third-pace match at the MWPC-Western Region Championships on Sunday morning (Nov. 6) in men's collegiate water polo action.
The Tigers (8-15) would fall behind in the first period as Gannon's Gilberto Millan scored a pair of goals for the Golden Knights.
Salem International would score three times in the second period as sophomore
Marton Dudok tallied a pair of goals. Freshman
Milos Popovic would score the other goal for the Tigers in the period. Nick Williams had two goals in the second period for Gannon as the Golden Knights led 9-3 at the half.

Robert Juhas would each score once in the third period for the Tigers, but Gannon would tally four goals to up its lead to 13-5.
The fourth period would see the Tigers outscore the Golden Knights 2-1, but fall short of Gannon's 14 goals in the contest.

Andrew Perry made six first-half saves in net for Salem International, while junior
Manuel Gallegos made six second-half saves for the Tigers. Gannon goalkeeper Brett Rehrer stopped 21 shots, including eight in the first period for the Golden Knights.Â
Millan recorded a team-high six goals for Gannon, while Williams tallied four goals in the match for the Golden Knights.
It was announced after the contest that Popovic and junior
Djordje Stavrevski were named to the 2016 MAWPC-West Region Championship All-Tournament Second Team for Salem International. Popovic was also named the Rookie of the Tournament for his play over the course of the two day event.
