EUCLID, Ohio (Oct. 15, 2017) – The Salem University Tigers men's soccer team put itself in position for a few scoring opportunities on Sunday afternoon but failed to capitalize, falling 2-0 to the Notre Dame College Falcons.
Throughout the second half, sparks of momentum flickered for the Tigers, but the offense failed to fully ignite on the drenched Mueller Field turf on the rainy Sunday afternoon.
It was the sixth shutout of the season for Notre Dame's defense as the Falcons improved to 9-4, and only the second time Salem was held without a goal this season, dropping the Tigers to 7-3-2.
For the match, Salem managed 11 shots, including a few at the front of the net that sailed high. But Notre Dame got 17 shots, including seven on goal and 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Notre Dame College's Leonardo Paiva scored both goals in the match, emerging from a scrum in front of the net off a corner kick for the first goal roughly 33 minutes in, then putting the game out of reach with eight minutes remaining of a pass from Reymar Klcohko.
The Tigers return to action Wednesday, Oct. 18 at home against Gannon University (7-6-1) for the last home game of the season and will honor seniors
