Box Score SALEM, W. Va. (Oct. 18, 2017) – On senior day, the Salem University Tigers men's soccer team showed pride through disappointment, losing to the Gannon University Knights 2-0 in a tough match.
Both teams fought to a near statistical standstill, with Gannon University making one or two more plays for narrow advantages in shots (10-9), saves (7-6) and corner kicks (5-4).
Gannon struck in the closing minutes of the first half on a goal by E. de Bonis Encinoso. The Knights scored again in the first five minutes of the second half on Luis Dremel's goal off an assist from Sam Thornton.
Seven different Tigers got a shot on goal with no luck in scoring. With the loss, Salem University drops to 7-5-2 on the season. Gannon University improves to 8-6-1. The Tigers next match will be on Oct. 21 in Charleston, West Virginia against the University of Charleston at 7 p.m.
