Box Score WILBERFORCE, Ohio (Nov. 11, 2017) — The Salem University Tigers women's basketball team won its season open on Saturday, defeating the Central State University Lady Marauders 75-69 on Saturday.
Isis Mance posted a double-double to lead the Tigers with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Aaliyah Dotson had 18 points, slashing her way through the Marauder's defense to get to the free-throw line 14 times, making nine. Keisha Gilmore and Jillian Romero rounded out the Tigers' double-figure scorers with 16 and 11 points, respectively.
Salem's defense held Central State to just 30.9 percent shooting, including 23.1 percent from the 3-point line; ramping up in the second half to hold the Marauders to just 28.57 percent shooting.
After a back-and-forth game, the Tigers led 52-51 heading into the fourth quarter. Mance opened up the quarter with a pair of free throws, a steal and a jumper to give Salem a 56-51 lead. After Central State tied the game at 60 on a Jaeda Davis 3-pointer, Romero responded with a huge 3-pointer (3-for-5 for the game) of her own and Dotson hit four free throws down the stretch to seal the game.
