PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Salem International University women's tennis team came-up just short against Philadelphia University on Friday afternoon (Mar. 31) as the Rams would be victorious 8-1 at Legacy Youth Tennis Center.
Junior
Jen Foreman and freshman
Megan Perez battled against Philadelphia's Emily Zygmunt and Katelyn High in the No.2 doubles matchup. The Rams would come away with an 8-5 victory against Foreman and Perez. The Tandem of junior
Felice Reed and sophomore
Kaija Scott dropped an 8-2 decision in the No.1 doubles matchup against Linde Zwann and Mariana Sampaio. Freshman
Shelby Turpin and sophomore
Waverly Federico fell 8-1 in the No.3 position against Usha Baublitz and Tabitha Porter.
In singles play, Perez recorded the Tigers lone point of the match in a walkover at the No.6 position while Scott battled in an 6-4,6-2 loss against High in the No.4 position. The Rams recorded 6-2,6-0 victories against SIU at the No.1 and No.3 positions and would take the No.2 singles match 6-0.6-1.
The Tigers will host Fairmont State University at home on Monday, April 3 at 4 p.m. SIU then heads to Davis & Elkins College on Wednesday, April 5 for a 3 p.m. start against the Senators.
