Salem Finishes an Impressive Regular Season

SALEM, West Virginia- As the season comes winding down, the Salem Tigers women's tennis team continued an impressive season. Salem would close out the regular season with six matches occurring across a 10-day period. The Tigers were able to finish the regular season on a high note going 4-2 across that span.

Salem 4, Davis & Elkins 1
In the first match, Salem traveled over to Elkins, WV to take on the Davis & Elkins Senators. Erna Brdarevic and Galia Mezouar started it off nicely for Salem grabbing the first doubles win 6-2. Kylie Diaz and Dasha Korsakova followed that up with winning their doubles set 7-6. The Senators ended up taking the last doubles win. The Tigers performed good in the singles contests with Brdarevic, Diaz, and Korsakova all securing a victory. Salem defeated Davis & Elkins 4-1.

Fairmont State 5, Salem 2
For the next match, Salem traveled over to Fairmont State to take on the Falcons. The Falcons got off to a good start taking both first doubles contests. However, Aishwarya Prasad and Salome Molina earned a victory in their doubles contest. Unfortunately, in the singles contest it would be Fairmont State who controlled the way. Galia Mezouar and Dasha Korsakova were able to walk away with victories though. Fairmont defeated Salem 5-2.

Salem 5, Frostburg State 2
Salem traveled to Frostburg, Maryland for the next contest against the Bobcats. Salem was off to a terrific start by sweeping all three of the doubles match ups. The Tigers were fortunately able to follow that up with 3 wins in the singles matches as well. Mezouar, Diaz, and Korsakova were all able to take victory to lead Salem to a impressive 5-2 win over Frostburg State.

Salem 4, West Virginia State 1
In the next match, Salem played host to the West Virginia State Yellow Jackets. The Yellow Jackets were able to get off to a nice start by securing the sweep in the doubles. However, Brdarevic and Prasad answered back to get the Tigers in the win column to open the singles. Korsakov earned a victory by winning in three sets to help prevail Salem to a 4-1 victory over the West Virginia State Yellow Jackets.

IUP 6, Salem 1
The Tigers returned on the road for their next contest traveling to Indiana, Pennsylvania to take on the IUP Crimson Hawks. The Crimson Hawks would get off to hot start and end up controlling the day. Salem was able to avoid the complete sweep, but IUP ended up defeating Salem by a score of 6-1.

Salem 6, West Virginia Wesleyan 1
In the final regular season match of the season, the Tigers traveled down to Buckhannon, West Virginia to take on the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats. Salem was able to take the doubles when Aishwarya Prasad and Salome Molina won the third match 6-3. Salem dominated the singles matches and even almost managed a sweep of the Bobcats. Wesleyan was able to grab one win. However, Salem would close out the regular season on a high note defeating Wesleyan 6-1.

After a successful regular season, the Tigers will now wait to see if postseason play will occur. The Tigers now have a chance at heading to a NCAA regional. Salem had a really successful season either way finishing with an impressive 13-6 record.
