HILTON HEAD, SC - The Brevard College Tornados handed the Salem International University tennis teams a pair of 7-2 losses on Sunday morning (March 5) at the 2017 Spring Tennis Fest in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

Sophomore Landon Schultz-Zwahr and Christian Manalang battled against Tom Mittring and JR Davis in the first doubles matchup, falling 8-5. Sophomore Eugene Bour and freshman Kevin Musasia dropped an 8-0 score in the second doubles match against Tim Hengst and Will Christiansen. The Tigers picked-up a point by default in the third matchup.

Singles play saw the Tornados take five of the six matches with Musasia dropping the first set 6-1 and rallying in the second before falling 7-6 against Christiansen. Antonio Shaw earned the lone point for the Tigers with a victory by default in the sixth position.

Sophomore Kaija Scott and freshman Megan Perez fell 8-4 in the second match of doubles play against Brevard's Carmen Boone and Katie Hatter. The Tigers won the third doubles match by default.

Junior Jen Foreman dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision against Hatter in the number one singles match, while Felicianna Reed came-up just short of giving the Tigers a point in her number two matchup against Sam Miranda, falling 6-4, 7-6. SIU took its point by default in the sixth singles match.

The SIU men are scheduled to play Catawba College tomorrow at 1 PM in Hilton Head, while the SIU women are set to play Defiance College at 3:30 PM.
