SALEM, W.Va. – Salem University Athletics has announced the hiring of Nicholas Gerosa as Assistant Athletic Trainer, strengthening the department's commitment to providing exceptional care for its student-athletes.
Gerosa joins the Tigers after completing his Master of Athletic Training degree at West Virginia Wesleyan College, where he gained extensive hands-on clinical experience working with collegiate student-athletes and patients in a variety of healthcare settings.
During his graduate studies, Gerosa completed clinical rotations covering multiple NCAA Division II sports, including football, men's soccer, baseball and men's lacrosse. He also gained valuable experience in orthopedic medicine through a clinical placement at United Health Center in Bridgeport, West Virginia, while further expanding his expertise in rehabilitation through work in an outpatient physical therapy setting.
Most recently, Gerosa has served as a Rehabilitation Technician at Country Roads Physical Therapy in Buckhannon, where he assists therapists with patient rehabilitation programs, prepares treatment areas, maintains therapy equipment and educates patients on proper exercise techniques and injury prevention.
Prior to his work in physical therapy, Gerosa held several leadership and safety-focused positions in aquatics, including Pool Manager and Water Safety Instructor. Those roles allowed him to develop strong emergency response skills while overseeing facility operations, administering first aid and teaching water safety to individuals of all ages.
While at West Virginia Wesleyan, Gerosa served as President of the Athletic Training Student Club and Secretary of the Theta Xi Fraternity. He was also recognized on the Mountain East Conference Honor Roll for his academic achievements.
Gerosa holds certifications in Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association and Advanced Airway for the Athletic Trainer.
As Assistant Athletic Trainer, Gerosa will assist in the prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries while helping provide comprehensive medical coverage for Salem University's 14 varsity athletic programs.
