2017 Summer Baseball Recap

Numerous Tigers wrapped up successful summer campaigns

SALEM, WV – Several Salem baseball student-athletes spent the summer of 2017 in various states across the country competing in collegiate summer leagues. Here is a recap of each of their seasons away from Salem.

Tyler Ault | Sophomore | Cortland Crush (NYCBL) | New York
  • Appeared in 34 games for Cortland, hitting .292 with 21 hits, four doubles, five runs batted in, and four walks.
  • Went 4-for-6 at the plate with two doubles and two runs scored for the Crush on June 21.
  • Helped the Crush to a second-place finish during the regular season (23-19) in the Eastern Division.
  Joshua Delaney | Junior | Cortland Crush (NYCBL) | New York
  • Appeared in eight games for Cortland, tossing 5.2 innings.
  • Finished with 1.58 ERA and yielded just one earned run.
  • Allowed three hits and fanned four batters.
  • Finished the season without allowing a hit in each of his last four outings.
Jimmy Cramer | Junior | Owensboro Oilers (OVL) | Ohio
  • Appeared in 26 games for Owensboro, recording four doubles, one triple, and eight RBI.
  • Owensboro finished third (18-22) in the East Division and qualified for postseason play.
  • Named to the OVL All-Star Game and received the "Strongest OVL Arm" award.
Brendan Case | Freshman | Surfside Sting Rays (BCBL) | South Carolina
  • Helped the Sting Rays to a third-place finish (6-10) during the regular season in the Coastal Division.
  • The right-hander was named to the All-BCBL Third Team.
Albert Cartenuto | Junior | Surfside Sting Rays (BCBL) | South Carolina
  • Helped the Sting Rays to a third-place finish (6-10) during the regular season in the Coastal Division.
  • Saw time both on the mound and behind the plate for the Sting Rays.
Steven Craddock | Junior | Hornell Dodgers (NYCBL) | New York
  • Appeared in five games for the Dodgers as a pitcher.
  • Pitched 4.1 innings, yielding 11 hits and allowing four earned runs.
  • Hornell claimed the 2017 NYCBL Championship after finishing the regular season with a 34-14 record.
