LEBANON, ILL.- The Salem University men's water polo team fell to Gannon 17-6, while they defeated Mercyhurst 17-15.
Game One
In the first match, the Tigers were tied with Gannon 3-3 in the first period, Salem was unable to capitalize the rest of the match.
The Tigers were led by junior
Robert Juhas as he scored three goals, while junior
Milos Popovic netted two and freshman
Austin Kephart added one.
The Tigers needed to bounce back in a big way against Mercyhurst.
Game Two
Salem picked-up a huge win against Mercyhurst as the whole team stepped up and contributed with a few key players out.
Freshman
Mike Diaz led the Tigers with four goals, while Popovic also added four scores.
Senior
Inigo Velasco and sophomore
Uros Jevtic tossed in three goals, while junior
Salvador Orozco pitched in two.
With a win tomorrow, the Tigers are still in the running for a first-place finish in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division II Championships.
The Tigers are back in action tomorrow for the second day of the CWPA Division II championships against McKendree at 11:30 a.m.
