CHARLESTON, W. Va. (Feb. 25, 2018) – The Salem University Tigers women's tennis team dropped to 1-7 on the season with a 9-0 loss to the West Virginia State University Yellow Jackets.
In doubles,
Kristina Vuksanovic and
Anna Kovalova lost 8-2 to Kierstin Hensley and Nina Dillwald while the pairings of
Alaina Weltz and
Waverly Federico, and
Brianna Vasquez and
Jennifer Perez, were shutout 8-0.
In singles, Vuksanovic showed some stronger performances with her serve, but fell short in two 6-0 sets to Laura Isbey. Kovalova faced Kierstin Hensley and lost in two sets by scores of 6-1 each.
Federico was able to set a tempo with her serves, but struggled in longer rallies, losing to Nina Dillwald 6-0 and 6-1.
Alaina Weltz,
Brianna Vasquez, and
Jennifer Perez were all shutout in two sets each.
