Box Score CLERMONT, Fla. (March 12, 2018) – The Salem University Tigers softball team suffered its worst loss of the season, falling 19-1 to the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights.
The Tigers gave up an 11-run fourth inning marked by four errors and 11 hits, with nine of those runs unearned.
Christine Bombardiere started in the pitcher's circle for Salem, pitching 3.1 innings and giving up seven hits and nine runs (seven earned) with six walks and four strikeouts.
For the game, Bridgeport had 16 hits. Salem had six hits and committed six errors.
Allison Luzzi led Bridgeport, batting 4-for-4 with two singles, a double, and a triple. She finished with two RBIs and scored two runs. Abbigail Blanchard was 2-for-3 with two singles, three RBIs and two runs scored.
The Purple Knights hit 16-for-34 with 11 stolen bases.
Rosey Romick was 2-for-2 with a RBI and a double for Salem.
Casey Moritz and
Tori Butler were each 2-for-3.
With the loss, the Tigers drop to 0-9 on the season.
