CLERMONT, Fla. (March 13, 2018) – The Salem University Softball Tigers softball team continued its road woes, dropping two games.
Salem faced Lock Haven University and Kutztown University, falling 7-2 in each game. With the losses, they drop to 0-12 on the season.
Game 1
Christine Bombardiere took the pitcher's circle for the Tigers in the first game, giving up 10 hits, five earned runs and three walks with five strikeouts against Lock Haven.
The Tigers struggled to string together hits, finishing with six and leaving 10 runners stranded on base.
Casey Moritz led Salem with two hits in four at-bats, scoring a run. She led off the seventh inning with a sing, then advanced to second and third on two wild pitches. She then scored on a
Kaleigh Decker fielder's choice.
Rosey Romick scored an unearned run in the fifth inning, leading off with a walk, scoring later on a two-out error.
Madison Mathes led Lock Haven with three RBIs, batting 2-for-3. Moriah Lindsey was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Game 2
A Kutztown University leadoff double, a walk, and two wild pitches set the tone in a two-run first inning in Salem's second loss of the day.
Romick started at pitcher for Salem, surrendering nine hits, seven earned runs and three walks.
The Tigers gave up a four-run fourth inning after putting out two of the first three batters as Kutztown strung together a single, double, hit by pitch and another double.
Salem struggled offensively, getting four hits with four strikeouts.
Sydney McPherson, knocking in both of Salem's runs in the seventh inning on a single to left field.
