CHARLESTON, W. Va. (March 22, 2018) — Facing the fourth-ranked team in the NCAA Atlantic Region, the Salem University Tigers women's tennis team lost to the University of Charleston 9-0.
The Tigers dropped all three doubles matches, with the pairing of Kristina Vuksanovic and Anna Kovalova the only Salem pair to land points, dropping the match 8-3.
The women recovered to fight the good fight in singles competition but fell short, falling to 1-14 on the season.
"The girls played great today. We've been playing more outdoor tennis as of late, so we had troubles adjusting to the indoor courts; but by the time singles matches started, they were playing great Salem tennis," Head Coach Todd Tucker said. "[Charleston] Coach Shari Reed is one of the best women's tennis coaches in the country and she had her girls prepared to play. I'm very proud of the way we competed today. The score is not an indicator of how well the girls have been playing and how much they've improved."
Salem's next match will be on Saturday, March 24 at West Virginia Wesleyan College at 1 p.m.
