ERIE, Pa. –The Salem University women's water polo team defeated Division I La Salle 11-9 and dropped a contest to Division I Saint Francis (Pa.) 12-9.
In the first game against La Salle, Salem produced a strong fourth period with five goals to secure its second-straight victory.
Freshman
Chloe Woodbine tossed in three goals with two assists, while freshman Annefleur ten Bloomendal also added three goals with one assist. Freshman

Maryanna Antoniou each notched two goals and two assists, while freshman
Beatrice Popescu posted one goal.

Philippa Piper allowed nine goals with nine saves in the game.
The Tigers scored the first goal as ten Bloemendal found the back of the net off an assist from freshman
Camryn Cotter at 6:23 in the first period.
In the third period Salem trailed La Salle 6-5, but with 18 seconds remaining in the third ten Bloemendal scored with an assist from Garibbo to tie the game 6-6.
Salem outscored La Salle 5-3 in the final period for the win.
In the Tigers' second game of the day, they dropped a close contest to Saint Francis.
Freshman
Erin Zappia led the way for the Tigers are she produced three goals, while ten Bloemendal scored two goals and dished out two assists with Woodbine adding two goals and one assist.
Garibbo and Antoniou each recorded one goal, while Garibbo notched a game-high three assists.
Salem started the game off strong and led 7-6 after two periods played. The Tigers only scored two goals in the second half as Saint Francis outscored the Tigers 6-2 in the final two periods.
Piper tallied 10 saves with a save percentage of .455 as she also swiped three steals.
Salem is back in action Saturday as it travels to Washington and Jefferson with the first game against Villanova at 12:30 p.m.
