The Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) has officially released its 2026 Women's All-Conference awards, and the Salem Tigers have emerged as the dominant force in the league. Following a remarkable season, the program captured two of the three major individual honors and saw multiple student-athletes recognized for their excellence in the pool.
Major Individual Awards
Headlining the honors is senior utility player Courtney Repinz, who has been named the 2026 WWPA Player of the Year. A standout from Grahamstown, South Africa, Repinz was also selected for the All-Conference First Team.
The program's leadership was also celebrated as Jeff Passwater was voted Coach of the Year by his peers. His guidance has been instrumental in elevating Salem to the top of the conference standings this year.
All-Conference and Specialty Team Honors
The Tigers were well-represented across the various honorary squads, showcasing both veteran leadership and rising young talent:
-
Melica Zelic (Sophomore, Attacker): Earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team for her offensive contributions.
-
Matipa Karimazondo (Freshman, Defender): Had a breakout debut season, earning three distinct honors: All-Conference Honorable Mention, the All-Defensive Team, and the All-Freshman Team.
The Tigers' presence across the All-Defensive and All-Freshman rosters highlights a balanced program built for both immediate success and long-term competitiveness.
