O'FALLON, Ill. – The Salem University women's water polo team continued to roll as it won its sixth and seventh-straight game as it defeated Mercyhurst 10-8 in overtime and cruised past Carthage 8-2, Sunday.
With the wins, Salem improves to 13-12 overall on the year.
In the first game, freshman
Margherita Garibbo continued her tear as she netted a team-high five goals, while junior
Maryanna Antoniou notched two goals.

Annefleur ten Bloemendal each added one goal.
At the break, Salem trailed Mercyhurst 4-2, but the Tigers made some noise in the second half as they held Mercyhurst to just three goals as at the end of regulation as the score was knotted 7-7.
In overtime, the Tigers controlled the game to secure the 10-8 win.
In the second game, Salem managed the game from start to finish.
Garibbo, ten Bloemendal and Antoniou each generated two goals, while Popescu and freshman
Camryn Cotter each tallied one.
Freshman goalie
Philippa Piper recorded 12 saves and allowed just two goals for a .857 save percentage.
Salem did not allow Carthage to score until 7:10 in the third period as the Tigers led 3-1.
The Tigers continued to dominate play as they scored five second half goals for the 8-2 victory.
The Tigers are back in action Friday, April 26, as they will head to Geneva, Ohio for the Western Water Polo Association Championships.
