Men's Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision At Dominican

Box Score A goal in the 28th minute was the difference as Salem University fell to Dominican College 1-0 in NCAA Division II men's soccer Sunday at Orangeburg, N.Y. Goalkeeper Luis Felipe Ramirez and the Tiger defense allowed only one goal in 180 minutes in two matches this weekend.

Salem (0-3-1) withstood six corner kicks in the first 20 minutes to keep the match scoreless. The Tigers created scoring opportunities on shots by Mark Ferenczi-Bako and Siya Mfusi, but Dominican goalkeeper Joshua Stephens was able to make the saves on both attempts.

Dominican (1-2) broke the deadlock on Antonio Zhu Sanchez's header off an indirect kick and the goal stood for the match.

Ramirez finished with two saves for the Tigers, which were outshot 12-8.

Salem has its first home contest since its season opener as the Tigers play host to University of Pikeville Wednesday. Match time is 3 p.m. at Catalano Stadium.
