Salem (0-3-1) withstood six corner kicks in the first 20 minutes to keep the match scoreless. The Tigers created scoring opportunities on shots by
Mark Ferenczi-Bako and
Siya Mfusi, but Dominican goalkeeper Joshua Stephens was able to make the saves on both attempts.
Dominican (1-2) broke the deadlock on Antonio Zhu Sanchez's header off an indirect kick and the goal stood for the match.
Ramirez finished with two saves for the Tigers, which were outshot 12-8.
Salem has its first home contest since its season opener as the Tigers play host to University of Pikeville Wednesday. Match time is 3 p.m. at Catalano Stadium.
