Box Score Andrea Morelli came off the bench to score both Salem University goals, including the game-winning penalty kick in the second minute of overtime, to lift the Tigers to a 2-1 victory over Slippery Rock University Saturday at Catalano Stadium. The win is the Tigers' second in their last three matches overall and second in a row at home.

Salem (2-4-1) trailed 1-0 when Morelli made his first appearance of the match in the 75th minute. It took Morelli just a little over two minutes to find the back of the after a service into the box by
Edward Tordoff. Morelli drilled a shot into the right side of the goal to even the match 1-1 at the 76:24 mark.

The Tigers had a chance to win the match in the final minute of regulation when
Jordan Lau crossed the ball into the box from the left side. The ball was just inches ahead of the Salem attacker, denying the Tigers a shot opportunity and sending the match into overtime.

At the 91:53 mark, Slippery Rock (3-3-1) was whistled for a foul in the box, setting up a penalty kick. After a stoppage of play to issue a red card against Slippery Rock, Morelli sent the ball to the right-hand side of the goal. Rock goalkeeper Matt Hunsberger dove to his left and got a hand on the ball, but the ball caromed into the inside of the net to finish match.

After a scoreless first half, a Tiger foul in the box gave Slippery Rock a penalty kick opportunity of its own in the opening minutes of the second half. Luke Picchi put Slippery Rock on the scoreboard at 48:10.

Luca Capriotti prevented Slippery Rock from adding to its lead with a number of key defensive plays. Ramirez deflected a close-range shot off the crossbar, while Capriotti made a steal in the box to prevent a one-on-one opportunity. Capriotti also cleared a ball that was heading into an open net to keep the Rock at a single goal.

Salem was outshot 10-8 for the match, but held a 7-5 margin in shots on goal. Ramirez finished with four saves for the Tigers, while Hunsberger had five saves for Slippery Rock.

Salem will try to extend its home winning streak Tuesday when the Tigers play host to Point Park University. Match time is 3 p.m. at Catalano Stadium.
