Salem Names David Shulimson Sports Information Director

David Shulimson has been named Sports Information Director at Salem University, it was announced Wednesday. Shulimson will be responsible for the publicity, statistics and record keeping for the Tigers' 17 sports programs. He will also oversee the Salem Athletics website and live streaming, as well as Salem Athletics social media platforms.

"David brings to Salem a great deal of sports information experience at NCAA Division II schools," said Salem Athletics Director Steve Potts. "We're excited to hire a person that has the experience that David has at the D-II level. We are pleased to welcome him aboard."
Shulimson previously was Director of Athletics Communications at University of Mount Olive (N.C.). He was responsible for ushering the 20-sports athletics department into the era of social media and live streaming of athletics events. He also served as host Athletics Communications Director and Media Coordinator for the NCAA Division II Baseball National Finals from 2009-15.

While at Mount Olive, Shulimson was a two-time regional winner of the American Volleyball Coaches Association "Grant Burger Media Award" for outstanding coverage of college volleyball.

Shulimson also served as Director of Public Relations for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). He covered collegiate, professional and international fastpitch softball. He also served as liaison for the NFCA's partnership with the American Cancer Society for the StirkeOut Cancer program.

Shulimson was the first-ever full-time Sports Information Director at Coker University (S.C.). He created Coker's first-ever athletics website and also established the criteria and inaugural committee for the Coker University Athletics Hall of Fame.

He began his sports information career as Assistant Sports Information Director at Rollins College (Fla.). Shulimson also served as a Sports Information Student Assistant at University of Central Florida.

"When I visited the campus during the summer for my interview, everyone I met conveyed a great sense of excitement for Tiger Athletics for 2019-20," said Shulimson. "I wish to thank Steve Potts and President Dan Finuf for giving me this opportunity. I also want to thank (Associate Athletics Director) Alex Joseph and (Head Volleyball Coach/Senior Woman Administrator) Ashley Ziegle, who guided me during my visit."

Shulimson earned a bachelor of arts degree in communications from Coker University and a second bachelor's degree in communications (radio-tv) from University of Central Florida.

He is originally from Asheville, N.C.
